# Apple Crumb Pie

An apple pie with apples cooked in butter, cinnamon and pecans, over a shortcrust base and topped with crumbs of the same dough.

## What you need

### Filling

- 4–5 Granny Smith apples
- 2 tbsp butter
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- 3 tbsp sugar
- ½ cup pecans

### Crumb dough

- ½ cup sugar
- 7 oz butter
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (plus 2 tbsp)
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 pinch salt

## How I make it

### Filling

1. Peel the apples and slice them.
2. Put the apples, sugar and butter in a skillet and cook over low heat for 10 minutes.
3. Remove from the heat and stir in the cinnamon and pecans.

### Dough and baking

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a food processor, pulse the dough ingredients, except the egg, into crumbs.
3. Add the egg and process until the dough forms a ball.
4. Divide the dough into two-thirds and one-third.
5. Roll out the larger piece and line a pie pan with it. Crumble the smaller piece into crumbs.
6. Spread the apples over the dough and scatter the crumbs on top.
7. Bake for about 30 minutes.
